UK Labour MEP Mary Honeyball made a speech at the Artists in Europe event last week in Brussels at the European Parliament in support of the IAO call for better remuneration for artists in the music industry.
The IAO event forms part of its support for the broader Fair Internet Coalition which represents some 500,000 performers from across the audio and audio-visual fields in Europe and which calls for specific changes to the Making Available Right which governs whether a performer gets paid for the commercial exploitation of their work online and if so, how that payment is treated.
