MEPs Back IAO Call for a Fair Share

Jun 24, 2015

MEPs from the Legal Affairs Committee published a press release in Brussels last Tuesday, 16th June confirming their commitment to:

"call for improvements to the contractual position of authors and performers in relation to other rightholders and intermediaries."
This commitment has been the key pillar in the IAO’s first lobbying campaign in Brussels and goes to show that MEPs are listening.
IAO President, Paul Pacifico welcomed the annoucement but added a note of caution stating "This is clearly a real win for Artists, but we must take care not to rest on our laurels. There is a long road ahead and we must keep up the pressure on legislators and fellow stakeholders in the music industry to achieve the right outcome for us all."
The copyright review in the European Parliament is set for Q3 2015 so all eyes will be on Brussels after the Summer break.
